Arrangement of an exhibition of photographs of allotment gardens from 4 continents.
We worked very closely on the arrangement with Anna Witkowska, who is the author of the visual identity for the exhibition. The aesthetics of the exhibition were taken from the allotment gardens – on allotments everything has its value and often finds a new use, not necessarily in accordance with its original purpose. In the arrangement, we used temporary walls that had been made for another exhibition changing their character. We marked the division of the photographs into sections with different backgrounds, which were made of raw plasterboard: pink (fireproof), green (waterproof), grey (standard) and blue (acoustic). We placed some of the pictures on a table made of OSB found in the museum’s resources and recycled blue water barrels. We left visible assembly elements and workmanship inaccuracies deliberately to allude to the allotment aesthetic and to emphasise the honesty of the materials.
The section on South America was enhanced with photos printed on wallpaper, pasted on the wall with subtle creases. We displayed some of the photos on a totem made from recycled banana cartons.
All elements of the arrangement can be reused after the exhibition.
